DISCOVER PADUA

Padua is one of the liveliest and most dynamic town in North-East of Italy from both the cultural and economic point of view.
The centre is dominated by several ancient monuments which show the glorious past of the town:
Palazzo della Ragione was built in 1218 by the Commune of Padua as seat of the Podestà and of the Law Courts. The upper floor is occupied by a single huge hall (81x27m.) entirely frescoed with astrological subjects.
The Scrovegni Chapel holds the most complete cycle of entirely preserved frescos produced by Giotto.
The Basilica of St.Anthony attracts pilgrims from all over the world.
The University, originally founded in 1222, keeps the oldest Anatomy Theatre in the world (1592) and Galileo Galilei’s desk, as he taught here between 1592 and 1610.
The Caffè Pedrocchi, designed in neoclassic style by Giuseppe Japelli in 1831, is a famous meeting place now and it was the scene of students’ uprisings in 1848.
The three large squares in the centre of the town, Piazza della Frutta, Piazza delle Erbe and Piazza dei Signori, all sorrounded by old houses with arcades, have been for centuries the site of daily picturesque markets and they still are nowadays.

S.CAMILLO SCHOOL

Our school is placed right next to the town centre, in a well-off quarter full of activities and projects; pupils attending our school mainly come from wealthy families with a high cultural level, moreover recently foreign children have joined our school as well.
School opens from Monday to Saturday from 8.10 am. to 1.10 pm.
There are 10 classes from I to V including children aged from 5 to 11.
English as a foreign language is taught beginning from the first class for an hour a week, then for two or three hours.
In September, at the beginning of the school year the new coming children of the Ist class are welcomed by the older students with songs, games and small hand made presents.
In Autumn, on November 11th - St.Martin’s day- we usually cook chestnuts in our playground and, of course, eat them!
At Christmas time children, teachers and parents share greetings and watch a play performance.
In June, finally, older children, going to “scuola Media” say goodbye to their mates with a free-subject play.
